Watch the 2022-2023 Folklife Apprenticeship Showcases

If you missed the West Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship showcases last fall, you can now watch the recordings on the West Virginia Folklife YouTube channel!

These showcases celebrate traditional art forms in West Virginia and their practitioners who are passing on creative traditional knowledge. The videos are filled with engaging stories, experiences, performances, and conversations among our seven participating 2022-2023 folklife apprenticeship pairs.

Watch all three 2022-2023 showcases below:

We would like to thank all the participants for sharing their traditional art forms as well as their personal stories of successes, challenges, and moments of inspiration during their folklife apprenticeships.

Thank you to the West Virginia Humanities Council staff for assisting with these showcases, including Kyle Warmack for recording the events and our AmeriCorps member Vanessa Peña. Thank you to Rebecca Branson Jones for editing the final videos, Mike Keller for his wonderful photography, Base Camp Printing Company for the hand printed posters, and to the staff of each of the venues for hosting us: The Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins, the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University, and the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg! Thank you to all who attended the events and who support the West Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program.
